Working Group 1 -- Water Information Networks
There is an abundance of information currently available through the water resources networks on the Internet. While many countries are developing information networks to make their data available for water resources planning and management, others are still unaware of how to begin using the available tools for their water information.
The development of a reliable network of information on water issues is a crucial tool for decision makers, policy developers, managers, and water users in general.
Furthermore, the exchange among networks and institutions working on water issues will promote the development of already existing ones, while giving other people and i:nstitutions the chance to learn from them.
- Key Questions:
- What is an information network?
- Why do networks and institutions not collaborate on information-related issues?
- Why do networks and institutions not share information?
- Why is there is a duplication of information while there is still a lack of information on key issues related to water resources management?
- Successful and non successful experiences of collaboration among networks.
Outcomes:
The Networking group will develop guidelines to create strategies and mechanisms to facilitate networking and information sharing among all the act ors in the water sector.
