Limited public resources are leading to greater involvement of the private sector in a range of functions previously undertaken by the public sector. One area for discussion of Working Group 2 could be specific areas in which the private sector is working with governments to improve access to information.

For example, ERSI has made small scale geographic information coverages available to the public which are suitable for regional/national planning and resource inventories.

It would be useful to identify other examples and the obstacles putting them in place.
